The Special committee submitted a report on the Tanzania mission transfer from World Missionary Fellowship Canada to World Missionary Fellowship USA. A letter was given to the executive committee from the World Missionary Fellowship Canada secretary, stating that they wanted to withdrawal the transfer from consideration by the world missionary Fellowship USA for reasons listed in the letter. After reviewing the letter it was agreed that we would honor the request.

Election of Officers – Brother Dale Rexroth nominated Brother Alan Vossler to become the Vice Chairman and was seconded by Brother Rube Gayheart. Brother Steve Yoder agreed to serve another term as Treasurer. These recommendations will be submitted to the General Assembly for re-election at the annual meeting.

Anyone with any suggestions for this day’s activities is requested to please contact an Executive Committee member and let them know.

A recommendation for adding some items to the Policies and Principles indigenous missionary visits will be prepared for the General Assembly at the Annual Meeting. This will define the responsibilities of the visiting missions and that of WMF-USA. A rotation of the visits of supported and non-supported mission fields was discussed so as to not burden the hosting congregations with many visits in the same year.

Brother Dale Rexroth made the motion for the Executive Committee to recommend the General Assembly according to our policies to approve a letter of invitation to Brother Pah in Liberia to visit for the Camp Meeting of 2005. Seconded by Brother Steve Yoder, motion carried.

MINISTER’S MEETING REPORT 2004

Theme: “Promoting Effective Mentorship”

34 Ministers & Spouses attended the 17th annual Minister’s Meeting for Church of God Ministers held March 3-5 in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The meeting began with Bro. J. B. Wood preaching on “Mentoring, Personal Perspectives” from 2 Tim 2:1-7. He reminded us that we need the potential & passion of a personal experience with Christ before we can give it to others. We are to mentor by example, by training, by teaching, by empowering and then we need to push them out of the nest.

Bro. Glenn Dryden followed preaching on “Many Mentors” from Matt 28:18-20, 1 Tim 1:2, Phil 1:3-4, Col 1:3 & Philemon 4. He told us that we have many mentors including, parents, schools, peers, pastors & teachers. There is no one right way to mentor; there is no model or specific chart to follow. The greatest mentor is Jesus.

Thursday morning Bro. Tom Hannold preached on “Pastoring Without Mentoring” from Psalm 71:17-18, Deu 1:37-38, 34:8-9, 2 Tim 2:2, Acts 16:1-3, Phil 4:9 & Luke 6:430. He told us of his experience &calling. He described some of the hardships and struggles of being a bi-vocational pastor.

Then Bro. Ed Beck preached on “The Mentored Pastor” from Eph 4. He told us of the value & challenges of being mentored. He gave us practical advice, 7 rules for tender/tough mentoring, 5 E’s test for decision-making, 5 qualities of a great motivator – Nehemiah & 3 qualifications for a Christian leader. He concluded with the cost of mentoring.

After lunch, Bro. David McDaniel preached on “Mentoring Needs of A Young Pastor” from 2 Tim 2:1-2. He defined what a mentor is & what the role of a mentor should be. A young pastor needs tools, knowledge and support. A good mentor would help the young pastor avoid mistakes, solve problems and become successful. He reviewed qualities of a good mentor.

We broke into small groups to discuss “Practical Steps to Effective Mentorship”.

Bros. Bob Rauch & son Steve brought the evening message on “Preparing For a Transition In Leadership” from Rev 17:11-14, 2 Sam 18:19-23 and 1 Chronicles 28 & 29. Bro. Bob reviewed His call to the pulpit, two ways of learning from your mentor & academic preparation. He explained a plan of letting go of the reins & delegating responsibility. He discussed mentoring after redirection. Bro. Steve told us how to properly make the transition from the mentored perspective. Remember God has called you; your job may be different & remain faithful. Heed the advice of your mentor. Build on the plan of the previous leader. Receive a blessing from your mentor. The results of a successful transfer will be effective leadership.

He reminded us that God called because of love. He called us out of the ways of the world and to Himself. The message is, God must have first place, Jesus is Lord, Salvation is by faith, Obedience unto the Lord is essential and carry the message. God backs up His call with power. Stick with it, fulfill your ministry and answer the call.

Tapes of messages may be ordered from: Pastor Stanley Rexroth.

Evaluations: 100% liked the Booklet, the small groups, the fellowship & the topic. 96% liked the agenda & the meals provided. 100% agreed to have next year’s meeting at The Community Church of God, Dunn Loring, Virginia.

Topic or themes for future meetings were ranked in the following order: 1. Effective Church growth – what works? 1. Respite/how not to burn out. 2. Disciplining new converts. 3. Discipleship. 3. Evangelism & Discipleship training. 4. Spiritual growth. 7. Supremacy of Christ. 8. How to personally evangelize and still pastor. 9. Christian education . 10. End times revelation. Others added were: Pastor’s wives issues; Establish a legal Ministerial Organization (2); Preaching; Predestination/ election doctrines of the height & depth of grace and The power of the gospel.

The single most important aspect of this time I would mention to encourage others to attend in the future: Working together to gain education on topic; Learning, fellowship & personal pastoral reflection; Laying aside personal differences or disagreements in order to come together for the larger good of the kingdom of God & to see beyond our local congregation to encourage & build up each other to carry on the work God has called us to. It gives us an opportunity to meet & become better acquainted with pastors, pastor’s wives & other workers in the Church of God; This is a good time to have the fellowship & information available from other ministers – I have a feeling of being a “part of something” not just working alone in our home area; Fellowship & God’s Spirit; Share our vision to promote unity; The blessing of fellowship; God’s Presence.

Other comments: Involving more minister’s wives and perhaps to have separate small groups relating to issues that pastor’s wives might be concerned about. No Atkins diet. Appreciate the evident work preceding this meeting. Suggested readings were good. Need more direction before start of small groups – group facilitator should be selected ahead of time and be encouraged to guide not dictate. Having the meeting at Robinwood was a blessing to us. Motel selected & all the deep planning & preparation. Would like evening services to be more of general interest. Way too busy, 4 days better, we need more meetings per year, consider the ant. Thanks to the host congregation. I would like to see a special luncheon or meeting for minister’s wives, these precious sisters need fellowship & encouragement. Mentor for whole families.

Pastors: If you would like to host the meeting at your church in the future, please let the committee know to place your congregation on the list.

The committee elected for next year is: Chair: Bob & Sue Rauch, Advisor: Donald & Denise Curtis, Vice Chair: Tom Hannold, and Stanley & Martha Rexroth.

There was a time when the number was raising greatly before the enemy attacked, these remain and have resolved to gear up our witnessing efforts to boost the number. Note from Bro. Christian concerning the above two congregations of Pastor Albert: These he has been covering by himself for the past years, but the burden is becoming too much for him. PHILIPPINES

February 25, 2004

Dear Bro. Rexroth and Saints,

Warmest greetings to our beloved editor and wife and to all our loving supporters abroad in Jesus name. We are coming again to share you our much gratitude for your continuous financial support that help much all the pastors in their station to solve some of their financials needs especially those who have high school and college children now who are graduating.

Glad to inform you saints that the work you are supporting is going on forward this 2004 in spite of the happenings in our country. The Communist and Muslim rebels are against the government because of much corruption of officials and neglected responsibility to the poor people. There are kidnapping and killings nearly everyday due to the upcoming May election that is very hard now to control.

Saints in the other hand by His grace and help we are not discourage to continue doing our best, preaching the true gospel for we know and believe we are already in the last days that Jesus second coming draweth nigh. No doubt you’ve already received and read our church journal in which you can read in details what is going on in the Philippines work you are supporting. We often acknowledge that without your prayers and financial aid the work is no longer existing and progressing.

Glad to inform saints that we have finished the reconstruction of the church building in Antipolo City, Rizal including the parsonage where the station pastor & family will stay. (Pictures were in last month’s Info)

For your information this month we’ve started a new church building in which the brethren who come out from Babylon will gather to worship the Lord in Cuyapo Nueva Ecija in Luzon district. A converted family whose house we temporarily gather for services donated the lot. The fund they used to start is the congregation offerings since it was started with some voluntary contributions from the brethren and the pastor and wife in Pasig city, Bro. & Sis. Esteban for it is their preaching point. And 10 GI sheets donated by a soldier youth, we started this day in deep faith the project with the male church members, mostly masons and carpenters doing the labor.

Also this coming month another concrete church building is to be started in the municipality of senator Aquino, Sultan Kudarat here in Mindanao district. So please saints help us to pray that God will supply the needs.

So in closing we want to appeal to our most privilege brothers and sisters in the Divine family of God to help us finish these projects for His cause. Kindly read John 9:4 that says I must work the work of him that send me the night cometh when no man can work. If you are move to help please send your offering to Bro. Steve Yoder our WMF treasurer. May God’s abundant grace be upon you always is our prayers.

Your Brother in the Family of God,
Bro. & Sis. D. B. Luzan Jr.

INDIA

March 1, 2004

Most honorable Father & Mother Wood,

By the grace of God and through your prayers we successfully conducted the Gospel meeting in the village of Pedur on Feb. 29, evening. The spirit of the Lord had done great things in the village. The people living in darkness and miserable by their poverty and lack of knowledge the people are facing many problems. The government is helping them by providing things like livestock shops and loans for their occupation even though most of the people living in huts and under the poverty line. Some are shelter less. In some seasons they are fasting without food. The children & women of the village are wearing rags.

At 6:30 PM we reached the village; immediately the saints went around the village singing songs & inviting the people to the meeting place. (Photo) Nearly 30 from the village gathered together, Pastor Bobby preached, “For why will ye die” from Eze. 18:31. As the meeting closed, many came forward for prayer. They are like sheep without shepherd.

We distributed some clothes. They felt very happy. Jonse supplied good meal to all.

Once again we are very thankful for the vehicle, which enabled us to reach this village.

March 6, 2004

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ enabled us to launch the “Fellowship of The Church of God” mission in Temple Town. March 3rd we conducted prayer & praise meeting. On the 4th we held an evening service. Our relation helped us in preparation. 60 to 70 people gathered. They were very hungry for the word, in meanwhile some people reached the meeting place and objected and try to stop the meeting but all the pastors prayed at the movement and they went back.

Pastor Bobby preached, “God looked down from heaven” from Psalm 53:2. Many people came forward for God’s help. The pastors prayed for sick & needy. We were encouraged very much by the Lord’s protection. We proudly said this is all done only by your prayers and supporting help.

India was open to any amount of public preaching till recent years have increasingly been becoming closed. So much so that in most of the villages it is now impossible to conduct open-air meeting; people oppose such preaching even in remote villages where nice Christians enjoyed total access for the gospel. But our government is favor to all religions.

Your Servant,
Bobby

YOUTH CORNER

It is time once again to go down to the corner and see what is happening. I can hardly believe it is March already. As I think of how things are moving along quickly, I am reminded of a story.

There once was a young man who loved the Lord and served him with all he had. He was very active in everything that he thought was involved in serving the Lord. He was always busy, always working for the Lord. One day, however he discovered that he was always working and never spending time with the one he was working for. While all he was doing were good ideas, they were not always God’s ideas. He learned that he had to always take time to be quiet and still and spend time with the Master.

Remember to always take time with God and rest in Him.

Power Verse: Psalms 37:7 “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. ”

Well that is about it for this time. Take care and remember to serve the Lord with all you got!

REVIVAL REPORT

Bro. Glenn Dryden was the evangelist for revival at The Church of God of Cumberland Valley, Shippensburg, PA, March 7-10. The theme of the meeting was, “Life more abundantly” with the opening message on “Christ and the Four Thieves” from John 10:1-10, 12:1-6, Mark 15:7, Matt 27:44, Luke 23:39-43, Philemon & Deu. 23:15-16. He told us that A Christina life is a life of growth. God has more for us than we could ever imagine. You have been set free; don’t steal yourself away from your master.

Sunday evening’s message was “Thy Kingdom Come” from Matt 6:9-13, 5:11-12, Luke 17:20-21, Daniel 1, 2, 9, 1 Cor. 3:16, 10:31, 2 Cor. 6:16-18, 1 Peter 2:5, 9 & Romans 14:17. He reminded us that when you have the Lord dwelling in you, you have the Kingdom of God in you. The Kingdom of God came with Jesus’ ministry.

Monday’s message was “Judgment to Come” from Romans 14:1-3, Acts 21:29-32, 24:22-25, Matt 11:22-24 & Luke 12:42-48. He reminded us that when you attach motive to your judgment, you are not judging righteous judgment. Jesus pronounced harsh judgment on the cities in which He had done mighty works, yet they repented not. You can be critical of those who are very ungodly and at the same time not be in a right relationship with Jesus yourself. Our knowledge & understanding exceeds all previous generations; much has been given to us and much shall be required.

Tuesday evening’s message was “The Lord Weighs The Spirit” from Prov. 16:2, John 20:24-29 & Gal. 3:1. He told us that the story of Thomas confirms the truth of the resurrection. It is a warning to us of the danger of separating ourselves from the body. It demonstrates the dignity of Jesus and helps us understand the nature of faith. Do you have to see a miracle to believe in Christ?

The closing message was “Five Cogs of Christian Conduct” from 1 Peter 2:18-3:8. He reminded us that Christians should be united & of one mind. We have a responsibility to keep & promote unity. We are to sympathize with others, weep with those that weep, rejoice with those that rejoice. We are to love the brethren. Love shows itself in tenderness & pity. No leader is exempt from criticism and in those situations his humility is displayed.

The revival was well attended and we were much blessed by the presence of God. Pastor S. J. Rexroth
