GUEST EDITORIAL
Christians and the Election
Much has been said regarding the upcoming Election and a Christian’s responsibilities. Please consider the following:
The foremost principle in a Christian’s life is that a he will always act in a manner that glorifies the Lord and advances His Kingdom. This principle affects his decisions and actions in all areas of life. It affects the issues that guide one’s choices. In an election with moral issues at stake, a Christian must base his decision on those moral issues. Economic issues and other matters cannot be the basis of a Christian’s decision. To vote based on economic benefits, whether personal or national, demonstrates that money, not the Lord, is your master. “You cannot serve God and mammon.” One’s vote is to be an extension of his commitment to Christ’s Kingdom above self-interest and personal considerations.
It affects whom one supports. To support a candidate who openly endorses and promotes values and practices that not only are in opposition to the Lord’s teachings, but also are denoted “abominations” is to deny Christ’s Lordship. While there may not be a candidate with whom you are comfortable on all moral issues, a Christian will support the one whose opinions most closely mirror the Lord’s teachings.
It affects one’s participation in elections. It is a self-evident truth that “all that is necessary for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing”. “He that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” In an election where moral issues are paramount, refusal to vote is implicit consent to the promotion of evil. Biblical teachings clearly demonstrate that God is very interested in government. Government was instituted by and derives its authority from God. If He judges nations based upon the decisions made by their government, then He will certainly hold individuals responsible who fail to exercise their opportunity to influence the government.
The upcoming election is a defining election. Because of the moral issues involved, this may be the most important election in our country’s history, second perhaps only to the election of Lincoln in 1860. Since the next President will appoint 3 or 4 Justices to the Supreme Court, this election will impact not only our lives, but also that of our children and grandchildren. It is no exaggeration to say that the moral future of our nation hangs in the balance. The moral issues of abortion and homosexuality are the defining issues for any Christian. Since one candidate clearly supports Biblical principles and the other is hostile to those principles, a Christian is bound by obedience to God and the desire for ‘His Kingdom to come, His will to be done’ to vote in accordance to Godly principles. Failure to do so for whatever reasons that one may contrive is to show disregard for God and His authority in your life.

Day 3: Saturday 25th September 2004. 5.00am: The Bishop A. Okon exhorted the church against the spirit of backsliding and lukewarmness. The special number and choir rendition were very thrilling. The praise time was led by Godwin Ebong and Sister Alice Ebong. Evang. Effiton Ebong centered his preaching on God’s ability to deliver from al sin and problems. In Genesis 12, God revealed himself to Abram and instructed him to walk before him (God) and be perfect. The promise of God will follow you if you are perfect before Him. Because of sin God reduces man’s life’s span. If you obey God, you will live long. He further stressed on the sin of immorality that is common among young people and warned against it. He read from Genesis 12; 1Peter 1:15; Gen. 6:5; Heb. 9:27; Isaiah 43: 1; Psalm 34: 7; Eph. 6: 1-3. Special prayers were offered for sinners, businessmen, schools children, applicants, teachers and baptismal candidates.
Day 4: Sunday September, 2004 5.00am: Morning Prayer was offered by Evang. Essien. He spoke on opening a good record before God our wholehearted service to God and even man will come as a memorial before God who will remember us by our good just deed just as He remembered Hezekiah and Cornelius. 6.00pm: Service was conducted by Evangelist Effiton Ebong who through baptism officially received two souls into the kingdom of God. The message though brief but powerful centered on the new life in Christ. He read from Heb. 12: 1; 1 Peter 4:1; 1Peter 4:1; 1Peter 3: 21. 10.00am: SUNDAY WORSHIP Opening prayer was offered by Pastor E. E. Udoh – Chairman of the Uyo Area. Sunday Bible Class was conducted by Sister Atim Bassey on the Topic “What shall I do when I feel fearful?” She took the Bible reading from 2 Chron. 20: 1- 29, she narrated how the Israelites under Jehoshaphat trusted in God in the midst of trouble and God delivered them from their enemies. Memory verse “In the day of my trouble I will call upon the Lord for thou wilt deliver me” she gave an assignment to each congregation to go and find out in psalm the message is recorded.
Pastor Uffot delivers the message. He spoke from text Matt. 11: 20 – 28. He mentioned that many people are heartily loaded with sin but that Jesus was ordained to take away the burden. Like the blind man in Lk. 18: 35 – 40. Jesus can meet everyone’s need, otherwise no one will escape in the day of wrath. He further read Gal. 5: 19 – 21 to highlight such sinful burdens as adultery, fornication, unseemliness, murder etc. He stressed much on the sin of immorality that has plague the society and even the so-called churches and called for earnest repentance. Other supporting passages read were Isaiah 10: 3; Rev. 12: 21: 1 Cor. 6: 7- 11. On the whole, the joy and ease at which inhabitants received the gospel was very overwhelming, an indication of the readiness of people to embrace Christ. Many people heard the truth the first time in their lives. The Sunday service was very reviving; believer went back rejoicing for the great awakening. The land of Nsaukara Offot is a spiritually fertile land and must be worked to bring out the potential fruits. Report Compiled by, Bro. Victor D. Umondia

Pastor’s Meeting Report
Let us praise the Lord’s precious name Jesus Christ for His great things towards Fe through His appointed servants.
For the last one-month Fe ministers had been involved in church construction project. The Lord helped us in many ways to accomplish His Mission. Fe Pastors meeting was held Sep 30 at I. K. Palem church. This is the mother church of all our churches.
Before we started the pastors meeting all the pastors shared their brief witnesses and experiences of Pastor John Rao (recently deceased) and then meeting started by distributing the wonderful message copies of Father Wood. Pastor Bobby shared every thought of the message “Joshua had been appointed by God” (Joshua 1:5-8, 16-17, 4:14). It was very thoughtful and needful message to us. It was delivered at a right place and time. It helped us to obey, cooperate and love each other. While the message was delivered the Holy Spirit worked in the hearts of the saints. There was a great calm in the congregation. As the Word of God spread every saint realized the greatness of the mission that was given to Joshua. By these instructions Fe pastors were awakened and set themselves in right way to go forth in the journey.
The fear of God entered into the hearts of pastors. At the same way the promises of God to Joshua gave us good hope & strength to follow & accomplish His Mission. The important theme of the message “the disobedience” and the result is a great lesson. At the end of the message we tasted the favor of God. The pastors praised the Lord for this timely message and expressed hearty thanks to Father & Mother Wood for the message presented to us.
This time widows gathered along with pastors to share the blessings. Pastor Martin gave a report of Temple town ministry. Sister Jonse explained the great efforts and loving kindness of Father & Mother Wood and all the noble missionaries toward Fe pastors and widows and great help for all the projects. She prepared delicious dishes for all.
Pastor Bobby closed the meeting with prayer and the encouragement words of Father Wood “Keep Faithful and surely our God will be with you and bless you”. In all things the Lord Jesus might have prominence. Hearty thanks and regards.
Your Servant
Bobby & Fe Ministers
Monthly report of September:
Most respected & Honorable Father & Mother Wood,
Precious Greetings and Love from Tirupati, India saints & pastors of Fe Church of God. Thank you for your letter regarding ministry in Tirupati and strengthening me with your spiritual verses.
By the Grace of Almighty we have good rains. The Lord is so gracious in blessing Tirupati gospel ministry. At present Fe has seven full time pastors. The prayerful bread (support) you graciously sent to me I bless the bread brake and distribute to our pastors and Bible women.
The L. S. Nager is blessed with a special Gospel revival crusade. All the church fellowship pastors, Bible women, saints & Sunday School children participated. More than 100 people hear the Word of God and decided to spend more time in the presence of God and dedicate their children to grow up in the Word of God.
Pastor Rajendra & Pastor David preached on prayer and its valuable answers. Many women came forward and gave witness. The same week we enjoyed monthly pastors fellowship meeting.
In the second week we visited Pakalavari Palli and conducted Sunday School program. Nearly 30 children gathered and enjoyed singing and heard Bible stories. Every child received song books, tracts & New Testaments.
In the third week I have devoted my time for church administration and registration. The fourth week we spent more time in searching the Word of God personal prayers for many things, locally needful things. We praise the Lord for His guidance and many grateful thanks to you and the saints who are praying for us.
We prayerfully submit my humble request to look over the c. mallavaram church construction. We want to complete the contraction and dedicate with your blessing hands. The building fund is no yet released.
My wife Linda & my children send their love and prayers to you all thanking again for all your prayers and help.
Your Humble Servant In Lord’s Love,

YOUTH CORNER
Hello again from youth corner! It seems as though time is flying, most of you have been in school for over 2 months already. I know that it has been an exciting and stressful time for all of you. October is a busy month for us. You know there is homecoming, football games, sports practices and tryouts for spring sports. There is another thing that this month is known for, and that is . . .. Halloween. This season gets me to think about a word that is pretty popular this time of year, and that is, fear. You know many of your peers and some of you are gripped by fear and anxiety. I remember when I was younger and I would go into a darkened room, and in the shadows I would see a big scary monster. I would be shaking in my Scooby Doo pajamas. Then my mom or dad would come and turn the light on. It would turn out that the old monster I was so scared of was just my very own non- – threatening chair with my harmless clothes on it.
I would then laugh at how silly it was to be scared of that. You know that is just what we do in life though. A thing may look scary until God’s light is on it. Always remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear, so when you are scared that is not of God. Just cast all your cares on God and let His light of love shine on all your fears and then you too can laugh at how silly those little things are in the light of God’s greatness.
POWER VERSE:2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Well that’s about all for this time, take care and remember to serve the Lord with all you got!!!

FELLOWSHIP REPORT
The Church of God of Cumberland Valley, Shippensburg, PA held their annual fellowship day September 25. It was a beautiful refreshing day. Bro. Tim Bash preached the morning message, “Experience The Burning Bush” from Acts 7:17-35 & Exodus 3:1-3. He reminded us if we don’t realize that God is above us we will not have the experience with God that we need. A burning bush experience will change your life forever. There is no one better prepared to deliver your family & friends from Hell than you. Turn aside to hear God from your burning bush.
Bro. Arnold Segesman preached the afternoon message “You Have Been Bought” from 1 Cor 13:13 & Song of Solomon. He told us we have been bought not with gold & silver but with the blood of Jesus Christ. Like the king’s horses we have been bought then broken. We are thoroughbred, kings and priests called & chosen by God to bear the chariot of the king. There are people you know that only you can reach.
